For more than a decade, Island Exterior Fabricators (IEF) has operated as a privately owned practice specializing in the delivery of bespoke, high-performing prefabricated facade systems. Our 50-acre manufacturing campus is headquartered in Calverton, New York, and supported by design and engineering offices in Manhattan, Boston, and Hartford.

Our organization is fully self-sustained, supported by state-of-the-art equipment and facilities that enable us to deliver a high-quality product. Our production capabilities, installation network, and bonding capacity allow Island to complete large-scale, complex projects in a timely, efficient manner. 

Job Summary: As the Procurement Director at IEF, you will be accountable for leading the strategic sourcing and purchasing for the organization supporting the project teams. As a Procurement Director, you will ensure materials, components, and subcontracted services are delivered efficiently; whether fabricated or assembled in the factory per evolving client demands. This position will report to the CFO/COO at Island Facades.  

Accountabilities:

  • Develops and adjusts procurement strategies based on client expectations, site conditions, production and project timelines.

  • Ensures alignment of material sourcing with project requirements through cross-functional collaboration with PMs, design and engineering, and production.

  • Leads and is responsible for successful execution of vendor negotiations, securing optimal pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.

  • Holds responsibility for supplier performance monitoring, ensuring adherence to contracts and service level expectations.

  • Oversees procurement team performance, ensuring clear roles, accountability, and professional development.

  • Manages coordination of material logistics to meet both factory production and on-site construction schedules.

  • Maintains ownership of procurement budgets, ensuring cost control while upholding quality and reliability.

  • Drives cost-saving initiatives and long-term value through effective sourcing strategies.

  • Identifies and mitigates supply chain risks by adapting sourcing plans and maintaining continuity.

  • Stays informed on market trends to proactively address material availability and pricing impacts.

Authorities:

  • Selects, approves, and negotiates contracts with vendors and subcontractors within established budget and policy limits.

  • Structures, assigns, and manages procurement team responsibilities, including hiring recommendations, performance management, and training decisions.

  • Develops and implements sourcing strategies, adjust procurement plans, and make decisions that ensure material availability for both factory and field operations.

  • Manages procurement budgets with finance partnership, to approve expenditures within delegated limits, and initiate actions to mitigate supply chain or delivery risks.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Construction Management, or related field and/or a combination of education and experience.

  • 10+ years of procurement experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role within the manufacturing or construction industry.

  • Proven ability to adapt sourcing strategies to factory and field-based operations.

  • Exceptional negotiation skills with a track record of managing vendor contracts and cost performance.

  • Strong leadership and people management experience, with the ability to motivate teams and resolve internal/external conflicts.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate procurement schedules with manufacturing and construction timelines

  • Monitor budgets, material costs, and supply chain risks

Physical Requirements:

  • Sit, stand, or walk for extended periods

  • Use hands, fingers, to operate a computer, telephone, and other standard office equipment

  • Occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds

  • Communicate effectively in verbal and written form

 

Salary Range: $180,000-$190,000

Location: Calverton, NY preferred. Open to our locations in Hartford, CT or Boston, MA with frequent travel to our headquarters in Calverton, NY.

Schedule: (Hybrid/Remote) *Frequent travel to our headquarters in Calverton, NY required
